30th ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THEHORTICULTURAL SOCIETY OF NIGERIACALL FOR PAPERS

The Local Organizing Committee of 'Owerri 2012' invites you to the 30th Annual Conference of the Horticultural Society of Nigeria (HORSTON) holding in Owerri, Imo State, THE EASTERN HEARTLAND. The theme for this year's Conference is: Horticulture for Food Security and Environmental Sustainability in a Changing Climate . This has been chosen to address the challenges of food security, environmental improvement among others in the face of changing climate conditions. The Horticultural Society of Nigeria was founded 35 years ago. The Society brings together scientists, policy makers, farmers, producers, marketers and other stakeholders who are concerned with improvements in production practices, availability of fruits, vegetables, spices, medicinal and floricultural plants. This Conference will feature recent advances and innovations in all areas of horticulture. ABSTRACTS/PAPERS Abstracts are invited for proposed oral and poster presentations in the following subthematic areas: Agronomy and indigenous knowledge systems in horticulture Post harvest technology in horticulture Floriculture and landscaping for environmental management Genetic resource management and biotechnology Crop protection in horticulture Horticulture in human health health and nutrition Socio-economic issues in horticulture Abstracts should be between 200 and 300 words with not more than five keywords. Full paper should include an abstract (300 words max), a brief Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and full list of References. All submissions should be typed using Times New Roman font 12 with double spacing, saved in MS Word 97-2003 format. All submissions should be mailed to hortson conference@gmail.com. Abstracts and full articles will be reviewed by a scientific panel, and authors notified with decisions. Papers that meet guidelines will be published in the Book of Proceedings of the 30th Annual Hortson Conference.
